The 2020 Mazda CX-30 earned the IIHS Top Safety Pick rating because it earned good ratings in all six of the IIHS crashworthiness tests. Included in these tests are the driver-side small overlap front test, the passenger-side small overlap front test, and the moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint tests. The 2020 Mazda CX-30 also needed to receive superior ratings in the vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention tests to earn this award, plus an acceptable or good headlight rating.

In addition to the 2020 Mazda CX-30’s accolade, the Mazda3 Sedan and Hatchback, and Mazda6, the Mazda CX-3, and the Mazda CX-5 earned the IIHS 2020 Top Safety Pick + award. Mazda earned more Top Safety Pick + awards than any other automaker.
